Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after March of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional victory, took control to push for a final set.

He defended four early break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
